RedData’s Open Archive is a software-defined storage solution that simplifies data lifecycle management. It uses transparent tiering to automatically move inactive data to a lower-cost archive, integrating directly with primary file systems for optimal storage efficiency.
RedData’s blockOS is a low-overhead object store that manages Zoned Storage devices. It is designed to support host-managed SMR HDDs and Zoned Namespaces SSDs, in addition to managing devices that implement traditional block storage protocols for SATA, SAS, or NVMe.
Overview
RedData's Open Archive technology automatically moves inactive data to low-cost archive storage using transparent tiering, ensuring robust data protection while simplifying the entire data lifecycle. Open Archive implements blockOS, a low-overhead Object Store to manage physical media, designed to integrate with native HDD and SSD storage device capabilities, such as Shingle Magnetic Recording (SMR) and Zoned Namespaces. RedData's blockOS is specifically architected to support the unique zoned nature and write rules of SMR drives.
Open Archive comes pre-installed and tested on our Open Archive Appliance, available in multiple configurations.
Open Archive Manager
Open Archive Appliance

Open Archive Manager is our software-only product for deployment on existing hardware:
- Open Archive Manager Basic is Free limited features edition;
- Open Archive Manager Enterprise support the full suite of functionality, including ZeroWatt, for OEM or bespoke deployments (our Professional Services organization will support deployments when installed within an existing environment).
A December 2025 Western Digital white paper recognizes RedData's blockOS and Open Archive for its native support of SMR drives. RedData's Open Archive Appliance is available with Western Digital SMR drives. The paper "Implementing SMR: Design Considerations and Best Practices" is available on the Western Digital website.

Devices Portfolio
The Seagate Nytro™ 5050-series server SSD is still listed as a CSfC approved product. This Gen4 SSD product has limited availability and has transitioned into end-of-life. We are working on a replacement product: the RedData PCIe Gen 5 ES-20 series, a NIAP/Common Criteria certified server SSD. The RedData ESN-20 has started NIAP evaluation and will replace the Seagate Nytro 5050-series on the CSfC approved products list later in 2026.

Seagate's BarraCuda™ 515 client SSD was listed as a CSfC approved product until of March 2025 and declared End-of-Life by the end of 2025. We are working on a replacement product: the RedData CS-12 series, a NIAP/Common Criteria certified NVMe and SATA client SSD. The RedData CS-12 is currently under evaluation and will replace the Seagate BarraCuda 515 on the CSfC approved products list around late Spring or Summer of 2026.

We offer client-class SED SSDs laptops and other end-points with NVMe or SATA III interfaces, including NIAP-pending products. Industrial temperature options available on select configurations.
We provide multiple options on our RedData CS-series client SSDs:
-
SATA III 2.5” - Wide-Temp options available, CC/NIAP evaluation in-progress
-
NVMe Gen3 M.2 - Wide-Temp options, CC/NIAP evaluation in-progress
-
NVMe Gen4 M.2 - Wide-Temp options
-
US Assembled for select configurations
-
Classified programs support option, including black-hole warranty.
Self-Encrypting Client SSDs
We offer a wide range of high-performance and high-capacity server-class SED SSDs from RedData, including our "Powered by Phison" products lineup. These SSDs come with SATA III, NVMe Gen4 or Gen 5 interface options and in multiple form-factors.

Storage Platforms
From high-density to high-performance storage capacity, we provide data center class storage systems. Either off-the-shelf or customized platforms tailored towards specific use-cases with superior performance, density, reliability, and capacity.
High-Performance Storage Platform
Our SSD optimized High-Performance storage platforms are designed for applications requiring high performance and high bandwidth and are great for applications such as high-speed data recorders, online transactional processing, and online analytical processing. The RedData all-flash systems can be optimized to support other high-performance applications including NVME flash storage for Virtual Desktop (VDl) solutions, managing many streams of high definition video, or storing file system metadata. In general, these systems support applications requiring large numbers of randomly accessed files.
High-Density Storage Platform
Our High-Density platform consist of JBODs, designed to support vertical scaling of large amounts of storage capacity to match the needs of a wide range of enterprise grade storage applications. This storage platform enables expanding external storage in file, block, and object storage format through a standard SAS interface between the JBOD and storage server. It provides leading-edge capacity, at at low cost and reduced footprint for today’s data centers.
